• SCGC and global clouds train Thai educators on practical AI use

  On September 14, 2026, Thai chemicals group SCGC launched the second year of its “Smart School Leaders with AI” program in Rayong, partnering with local education authorities and global cloud providers including Google Thailand, Microsoft Thailand, NTT, Alibaba Cloud Thailand and Tangerine. The initiative aims to train about 300 school leaders and teachers to integrate AI tools into real classroom and administrative workflows.

• NTT uses AI and robotics to triple semiconductor film experiment speed

  On August 27, 2026, MyNavi’s TECH+ reported that NTT had demonstrated an “interpretable autonomous deposition” system that uses AI and robotics to autonomously optimise thin-film growth conditions and extract human-understandable rules, roughly tripling the experimental cycle speed for semiconductor deposition. Applied to gallium oxide, the system achieved what NTT says is the world’s first single-crystal thin film using a sputtering method, with results published in Nature Communications. • NTT launches ¥80B IOWN AI Fund to back photonics and AI startups

  On June 26, 2026, Japan’s NTT detailed the creation of the IOWN AI Fund, targeting around ¥80 billion to invest in photonics, semiconductors and AI-related startups that fit its IOWN next-generation network vision. The fund, formed after a June 10 announcement, will be managed with partners including Walden Catalyst Ventures and will invest in later-stage companies while Walden backs earlier-stage firms. Telecom and chip players such as SK Telecom, SK hynix and Chunghwa Telecom are participating as partners.
