South Korea boosts AI budget to 9.4T won and 10k GPUs
On September 1, 2026, South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT outlined a record 29.6 trillion won 2027 budget, with 9.4 trillion won earmarked for AI, an 84 percent jump from this year. The plan allocates 5.6 trillion won for “frontier” AI models, about 3.85 trillion won to buy 10,000 Nvidia “Vera Rubin” GPUs, and new funding for an “AI for All” program to provide general‑purpose chatbots and agents to the public.
