• Fujitsu launches Takane AI platform for banks and finance

  On July 28, 2026, Fujitsu announced it is building the Uvance for Finance AI Transformation Platform, a dedicated AI environment for financial institutions. The platform will use Fujitsu’s Takane large language model, guardrail tooling and multi‑agent systems to support secure AI workflows such as loan screening and branch operations from August 2026 onward.

• Fujitsu launches multi‑AI service to modernize legacy systems 40% faster

  On July 14, 2026 Fujitsu launched its AI‑driven Modernization Service in Japan, combining its Kozuchi platform, the Takane LLM and external models like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT. The service uses AI agents to analyze legacy assets, automate code conversion and orchestrate rewrite/rehost projects, which Fujitsu says can cut migration timelines by around 40%.

  On May 25, 2026, Fujitsu announced a self-evolving multi-AI agent technology built around its business-specific Takane large language model. • Microsoft commits $10B to Japan AI data centers and talent

  Microsoft announced on April 3, 2026 it will invest $10 billion in Japan between 2026 and 2029 to expand AI data centers, strengthen cybersecurity and train one million engineers. The package includes partnerships with SoftBank and Sakura Internet to provide sovereign GPU infrastructure and in-country AI compute for Japanese customers.

• Japan backs seven domestic LLMs for Government AI platform

  On March 6, 2026 Japan’s Digital Agency announced it has selected seven domestically developed large language models, including NTT Data, Customer Cloud, KDDI/ELYZA, SoftBank, NEC, Fujitsu and Preferred Networks, for trial use in its “Government AI” platform GENNAI. • Fujitsu and Tohoku apply causal AI to unlock superconductivity insights

  On December 23, 2025, Tohoku University and Fujitsu announced they had used Fujitsu’s ‘discovery intelligence’ causal AI to clarify the superconductivity mechanism in a kagome superconductor, publishing results in Scientific Reports. The work used AI to extract causal relationships from complex ARPES spectroscopy data taken at the NanoTerasu synchrotron facility.
