OpenAI and Nvidia pursue $250B guarantee for 10 GW Ohio AI campus

Reuters reported on July 27, 2026 that Nvidia is negotiating a roughly 250 billion dollar financing guarantee to help OpenAI lease a planned 10 gigawatt AI data center campus in Piketon, Ohio. The project, developed by SoftBank’s energy arm on US federal land, is expected to cost more than 500 billion dollars in total and could also include up to 350 billion dollars in separate chip purchase financing.
