India and Intel launch Agentic AI skilling program nationwide

India’s new Agentic AI skilling push is a clear statement about where the country thinks value will sit in the next wave of AI. Instead of just teaching prompt writing or generic ML, the initiative focuses on building, orchestrating and governing AI agents and multi-agent systems. That is exactly the layer where Astra-like models turn into real workflows. By putting this under a national skills banner and partnering with Intel, New Delhi is trying to seed a broad base of people who can design agentic systems rather than just consume them.

In the race to AGI, talent depth may matter as much as raw compute. Countries that can field tens of thousands of engineers who understand how to wire models into complex processes will be better positioned to capture the gains from frontier systems, whether those models are domestic or imported. For India, which already has global weight in IT services, this is a natural move: it turns the agent wave into an employment and export story, not just a threat. Over time, this kind of program can also normalize expectations around safe deployment, since governance of agents is explicitly part of the curriculum.
