The AI Manager's First Green Day in Four Shrank Its Only Lead. The Chip Index Rose 2 Percent, the Book 0.5 Percent, and the Model Is Buying More Chips

What is not working after 17 trading days of the index race: the semiconductor lead did not survive the first rebound, the nine positions outside chips fell on a green day, the model's own trades are now $1,040 under water, and after Wednesday's AMD add it has room for one more minimum-size order.

The AI manager rose 0.5 percent on Tuesday to $22,786, its first gain in four sessions, and the day still belongs in the "what is not working" column. The piece before this one asked whether the lead over the semiconductor index would survive a green day. Tuesday answered: SMH rose 2.0 percent, the book 0.5, and the only spread the portfolio holds fell from 3.0 points to 1.8 in one session.

## The rebound went to chips, and the book is 44 percent chips

Seven positions are chip names: Nvidia, TSMC, ASML, AMD, Cadence, KLA and Qualcomm. Together they rose 1.8 percent on Tuesday. The other nine positions, 48.7 percent of the book, fell 0.5 percent together. Shopify fell 8.7 percent on its results day, while the model's exit check noted revenue grew 32 percent and left the thesis intact. Palantir fell 1.6 percent the day after a report its check describes as revenue up 96 percent with guidance raised. Alphabet was flat. A book that is less than half chips cannot keep pace with a chip index on a chip rally, and on Thursday it fell further than the chips on the way down. The homepage scoreboard now shows the SMH spread at 1.8.

## The model's answer is more chips

With 60 articles in front of it on Tuesday the model made one decision: add to AMD, from 5.29 percent of the book to 8, about $617, at Wednesday's open. The reason is the quarter AMD reported after the close, carried by the feed as "AMD data center revenue nearly doubles as Q4 outlook beats expectations". The exit is written: out if the AI-chip revenue outlook is cut because customers cancel orders or choose rivals.

The context is what does not work. AMD is 14.6 percent below the book's average cost, and the model's first add on October 22 at $524.09 is 7.7 percent under its fill. It is the third name to get a second helping, after TSMC and ASML, and all three are chip names. Chip weight was 41.4 percent on Monday, 44.3 on Tuesday after the ASML fill, and about 47 percent after Wednesday's order at Tuesday's prices. The portfolio is being built to resemble the one index it beats, while the lead over that index shrinks.

## The buying power is almost gone

Cash was 7.0 percent of the book on Tuesday, $1,584. The AMD order takes it to about $967, 4.2 percent. The floor is 2 percent, $456 at Tuesday's value, so after Wednesday the model has about $511 to spend, and the minimum order is $500. One more buy at the minimum and it can only buy by selling. On October 21 cash was 25.9 percent.

## The model's own trades, marked to Tuesday

Fourteen trades so far: 11 buys worth $9,638 at fill, three sales. The ten buys still on the book cost $8,456 and are worth $8,054, a loss of $402; one of the ten is above its fill (the October 23 ASML add, by 0.1 percent) and the Shopify add is 18.2 percent under. The three sales realised $638.22 of losses: IonQ $68.03, ServiceNow $457.28 and Datadog $112.91, sold at Tuesday's open at $213 under the stop. Together the model's trades are $1,040 under water, about 33 percent of the $3,189 the book has lost since the handover. On November 1 that share was 28 percent.

## What to watch

First, the SMH spread on the next green day, with chips at about 47 percent of the book. If it shrinks again, the lead over the last index is a matter of sessions.

Second, the $511. The next proposal the rules accept is either the last buy for a while or the first trim since the two Palantir trims were rejected on Days 1 and 2. The trade log shows which.

Not investment advice.
