This story is not about a new model, but about who gets to shape the political environment that will govern AGI. Build American AI and its affiliated super PAC are explicitly trying to normalize large data center build‑outs in swing states and support candidates who are friendly to rapid AI expansion. That is a direct response to growing local backlash over land use, water, power and noise from hyperscale infrastructure, and it shows that frontier‑aligned capital is willing to fight those battles with eight‑figure TV budgets.

Strategically, it widens the gap between well‑capitalized frontier labs and smaller challengers. If Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI’s leadership can tilt state‑level politics toward permissive zoning and generous incentives for AI infrastructure, their portfolio companies will benefit from cheaper, faster deployments.
