Verascient raises $1.2M seed to build temporal AI knowledge graphs

Verascient is one of a growing number of startups trying to solve a mundane but brutal problem for AI agents in enterprises: most of the relevant information lives in messy, changing systems that were never designed to be queried by models. Their pitch, a temporal knowledge graph that tracks how organisational data evolves and preserves permissions, is effectively an operating system for AI agents inside regulated industries.

This matters for the AGI race because without infrastructure like this, even very capable models remain toys inside large companies. The more enterprises can expose consistent, permission aware views of their knowledge to agents, the more they will generate real workloads, dollars and hard edge cases that feed back into model development. The fact that this seed round is happening in South Africa, led by a US seed fund with a track record of backing category creators, is also a reminder that critical pieces of the agent stack will not be built exclusively in San Francisco and London.
