Panama’s USMA to host MagnIfica Humanitas forum on AI and human dignity

By foregrounding human dignity, education, and social cohesion, the forum will likely push back against narrow, GDP‑centric narratives of AI progress and emphasize differential impacts on vulnerable communities in Latin America.

In terms of the race to AGI, events like this don’t change scaling curves, but they do help determine the political legitimacy of different development paths. If Latin American civil society converges on strong expectations around explainability, labor protections, and inclusive access to AI literacy, governments in the region may be more willing to impose conditions on cloud providers and model vendors. That in turn affects how quickly and on what terms frontier‑class systems are deployed across education, finance and public services in a large and youthful region.
