James Cameron says no generative AI is used in Avatar films, pledges not to replace actors

Director James Cameron told Variety that no generative AI was used in making "Avatar: Fire and Ash" or any previous Avatar films, stressing that the franchise "honors and celebrates actors" and should not replace them with synthetic performers. While he remains interested in AI for cutting VFX costs and serves on Stability AI’s board, Cameron warned that AI-created actors and fully AI-written scripts are "horrifying" and said Hollywood must self-police AI use to protect human artistry.
