• NNSA selects Amentum for 1GW AI data center project in South Carolina

  On July 20, 2026, the US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration selected contractor Amentum to enter negotiations for a phased lease to build a 1-gigawatt AI data center at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. The project pairs the facility with about 2 gigawatts of on-site natural gas and future nuclear generation to power advanced AI workloads without shifting costs to existing ratepayers.

• Google and DeepMind power DOE Genesis Mission with Gemini for Government
