Applied Machine Learning Engineer

Job Description

Founding engineer on DigitalOcean’s AI Modernization charter. Build production-grade generative AI agents and applications on DigitalOcean’s cloud, with a focus on reliable, observable systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship end-to-end generative AI applications and agents using frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex
• Implement and tune Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) over customer and platform data
• Define and run evals and A/B tests to track model quality and catch failure modes like hallucinations
• Partner with integrations teams to wire AI systems into customer products and DigitalOcean’s platform
• Translate customer use cases into fast iterations, from prototype to production
• Own reliability, observability, and performance of AI services in production
