Applied Machine Learning Engineer

Job Description

Founding Applied ML Engineer on DigitalOcean’s AI Modernization charter. You design, build and ship production generative AI agents and applications for customers, using frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex. The role owns end‑to‑end systems: RAG pipelines grounded in customer data, evaluation harnesses, A/B tests and integration with DigitalOcean’s platform. Focus is turning cutting‑edge LLMs into reliable, observable services that clearly move business metrics.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy end‑to‑end generative AI agents and applications for customers.
• Implement and optimize Retrieval‑Augmented Generation pipelines grounded in customer and platform data.
• Create evaluation frameworks and A/B tests that catch hallucinations and regressions before customers do.
• Collaborate with Integrations team to embed AI deeply into DigitalOcean products.
• Work closely with AI Product Manager to turn fuzzy customer use cases into shippable pilots.
• Establish best practices for observability, reliability and lifecycle management of AI services.
