Research Engineer / Research Scientist, Pre-training

Job Description

You join Anthropic’s pre‑training team in Zurich working on the next generation of large language models, especially models that handle text plus other modalities. The role blends research and engineering: designing architectures, scaling training to thousands of accelerators, and improving tools and infra for large‑scale training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and implement solutions across model architecture, algorithms, data processing, and optimizers.
• Lead small research projects and collaborate on larger initiatives.
• Design, run, and analyze experiments to advance understanding of large models.
• Optimize and scale training infrastructure for efficiency and reliability.
• Improve developer tooling and contribute across the ML stack.
• Operate under Anthropic’s hybrid policy, spending at least 25% of time in the office.
