Applied Scientist II, Robotics and ML, Amazon Industrial Robotics

Job Description

Applied Scientist role on Amazon Industrial Robotics, building machine learning systems that let manipulation robots perform complex tasks in real fulfillment centers. The team mixes classical robotics and modern ML to improve performance, adaptability and safety. You design learning algorithms, data collection pipelines and prototype workcells, then partner with robotics engineering and operations teams to deploy solutions at scale in warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement novel ML solutions for manipulation robots used in Amazon fulfillment centers.
• Combine classical robotics techniques with learning‑based approaches to improve robustness and adaptability.
• Design learning algorithms for automated parameter tuning and adaptation in changing warehouse conditions.
• Build data collection pipelines and capture high‑quality demonstrations of dexterous manipulation tasks.
• Prototype and evaluate robotic workcells to validate performance against safety and reliability goals.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls and operations teams to align solutions with real‑world constraints.
• Document architectures, experiments and validation results for internal and external stakeholders.
