FactSet has launched what it calls the first production-grade Model Context Protocol (MCP) server designed to feed AI systems with governed, real-time financial data directly from its platform. The service exposes nine major datasets—including fundamentals, consensus estimates, ownership, pricing, M&A intelligence, events, supply chain and geographic revenue exposure—to enterprise and agentic AI applications without the need for custom warehouses or manual ETL pipelines. After a beta with 45 firms and over 800 institutional users, FactSet says clients are already using the server to drive AI-assisted research, scenario analysis and other automated workflows that blend LLM reasoning with trusted market data. The move positions FactSet as a key infrastructure provider in the emerging "AI agent" ecosystem, competing not on generic models but on the quality and accessibility of domain-specific context. It also illustrates how traditional data vendors are repackaging long-standing APIs for the AI era rather than ceding that layer to hyperscalers.
