
A legal analysis reported by MLex concludes that the current law in England and Wales provides "no meaningful protection" against harms caused by advanced AI assistants, such as sophisticated chatbots and agentic systems. The study argues that gaps in existing consumer‑protection, negligence and product‑liability frameworks leave users exposed to misrepresentation, manipulation and other AI‑driven harms, and calls for targeted reforms to address accountability and redress when AI assistants go wrong.
