Job Description

Applied Scientist role in Microsoft’s Turing/AI organization, working on the orchestration and core systems behind Microsoft 365 Copilot chat experiences. The team sits at the intersection of research and product, improving orchestrator reasoning, training next‑generation LLMs, and shipping model‑driven features for Office and other Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the orchestration layer for Microsoft 365 Copilot—improving reasoning, latency, and support for new modalities and agentic behaviors.
  • Train and fine‑tune models, including post‑training methods like RL and instruction‑tuning, using high‑quality curated data.
  • Design and run experiments to evaluate model changes, orchestrator strategies, and end‑to‑end user experiences.
  • Collaborate with product teams to ship model‑driven features from prototype to production.
  • Contribute to shared tooling and infrastructure for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
